Malaysia has a population of approximately 32 million people of which around 270,000 are permanent residents. This means that an estimated 0.8% of the entire population of the country are non-citizens who are permanent residents. Any person of any foreign nationality is allowed to have PR status in Malaysia as long as the person fulfills all the obligations and requirements associated with being one. This fact has drawn people from all over the world to come to Malaysia and become permanent residents there.
